2016 UK Open – Day One

It’s the first PDC TV ranking tournament of the season this weekend with 14th edition of the UK Open (this year sponsored by Coral) taking place at Butlins in Minehead. Coverage of the tournament which starts on Friday will be shown live on ITV4.

The UK Open is a unique tournament in the PDC calendar due to the open nature of the event; there is a random draw after each round (apart from Rounds 1 and 2 which are drawn before the tournament starts).

The random draw means that Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson could face each other as early as the Last 64 (which is the first round they will enter the tournament).

In total a 128 players will be competing, with matches in the early rounds being split across eight stages simultaneously.

To qualify for the event a total of 96 players came through the UK Open Qualifiers, whilst a further 32 amateur qualifiers came through qualifying events held in Rileys Sports Bars.

Friday afternoon’s first round sees the players ranked from 65-96 in the UK Open Order of Merit joined by the 32 Rileys Amateur Qualifiers, with the players ranked from 33-64 coming in for the second round. The top 32 players from the UK Open Order of Merit all enter the tournament in Friday evening’s third round (Last 64).

Here is the order of play for the first two rounds.
